About Light The Night
Light the Night is a beloved holiday tradition in Delano, Minnesota bringing families, friends, and neighbors together to celebrate the season with joy, connection, and a whole lot of lights.
How it Started
What started as a small memorial display created by Dorothy Zitzloff and her son Brad has grown into a magical event that transforms Central Park into a winter wonderland. With over 700 color-changing Pixl lights, towering mega trees, interactive props, and more than 100 decorated community trees, the display is a true labor of love and a gift to the entire community.

From late November through January, visitors can stroll through glowing displays, warm up by the fire pits, enjoy live music, free treats on Saturday nights, and experience the wonder of the holidays in a setting designed to make memories.

Each year, Light the Night gets bigger, thanks to the incredible support of local volunteers, sponsors, and community members. In 2023, the event drew 8,000–9,000 car visits and continues to grow by 25% each year.
Why We Do It
Because joy is contagious.
Because the holidays are better when shared. Because bringing people together in a meaningful way matters.

Light the Night is 100% community powered from the lights and displays to the hot cocoa and snowman smiles. Whether you're decorating a tree in honor of someone you love, sponsoring a display, or volunteering behind the scenes, you're helping to create something magical.
